A History of Our Hotel

relax in history with modern luxury

The current Meadows Hotel building has been a part of the landscape of Fulton, KY since 1901. The history of our establishment actually goes back to approximately 1898, when Mr. W. W. Meadows, a prominent business man of his day, began construction of the Meadows building. A half block long, it housed retail establishments on the first floor, with a fine hotel on the second floor. The hotel opened in January, 1900 with great fanfare. It was a luxury hotel for all traveling passengers on the railroad. Tragically, a fire struck the Meadows block on December 1, 1900, and it was destroyed. Undaunted, Mr. Meadows immediately began construction of the new Meadows Hotel. It was completed in record time, in September 1901. This 3 story building was a full block long, with 100 rooms. Mr. Meadows died in 1914. Under new ownership, it was rechristened as the Southern Hotel in 1925. Ironically, in the winter of 1933 the largest fire in Fulton’s history destroyed most of the building, leaving only what you see today.

In February 2016, Mr. Jeff Campbell, a life long resident acquired the property and oversaw a complete reconstruction project to bring the Meadows Hotel back to life, now an historic boutique hotel with 14 guest rooms. We hope you enjoy your stay at The Meadows.

World Class Dining

The Meadows Hotel is home to Bar 101. A unique upscale restaurant and bar experience for our entire area. From signature cocktails to unique entrees constantly changing on our menu, Bar 101 will be a special place to take your family and friends.

For years the Twin Cities has badly needed a quality, full service hotel. I think I can speak for our entire community when I say we are so thrilled to see the Meadows Hotel open in September. This will be a unique property within a 100-mile radius of Fulton. This historic boutique hotel will contain 14 rooms, which are individually unique and different. Bar 101, located in the hotel, will be an upscale bar and dining experience. The Meadows Shoppe will add a small retail experience to the property. I have worked with Jeff Campbell for years now, and can tell you one thing you can count on. This will be a special place like no other.

Thea Vowell, Executive Director Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce

My vision for the Meadows Hotel is simple. We want our guests to relax in history with modern luxury. We want to provide a unique experience of an historic boutique hotel, with 14 rooms individually appointed. Service excellence will be our passion. Whether you’re in our rooms, dining in Bar 101 or shopping in the Meadows Shoppe, we want you to feel our southern hospitality. But most of all, we want you to come back to the Meadows Hotel in Fulton again and again.
